Adolescent Counseling

When children grow into adolescent stage, they are experiencing a number of changes and new challenges in life: physical development, hormonal changes, social scrutiny and skill building, as well as transitioning into abstract thinking.

At this stage, teenagers are in search of themselves in terms of their identity, physical appearance, moral standard, and social behaviors. They might stumble on the road in finding their answers and struggle emotionally. They can often feel lost, scared, anxious, and sad as stress and external challenges accumulate. As they are facing struggles, parents do too.

Throughout adolescent counseling, talk therapy and other therapeutic modalities (including sand tray, art, and etc.) would be provided to help teenagers address concerns or issues that they are facing and empower their personal strengths in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. Parents would be meeting with the therapist periodically in order to discuss present concerns and progress of counseling for the optimal outcome in the course of healing.
