Play Therapy

More Services

Children are going through different developmental stages as they grow up. At a young age, children typically are limited to verbal and cognitive ability to freely express themselves as adults do. Children are more likely to communicate (verbally or non-verbally) with toys that they have difficulties expressing with words in a warm, welcoming, accepting, and safe environment. Play is a child's natural language and toys are their words. Play therapy to children is talk therapy to adults. Play therapy is designed to help children age 3 to 12 overcome emotional difficulties and enhance personal strengths.

Often times, parents would experience these difficulties with their children: frequent temper tantrums, disobedience, verbal or physical aggression, acting-out behaviors at home or school, hyperactivity, lack of concentration, trouble with making friends, a low self-esteem, worries, fear, a sad mood, and so forth.

In play therapy, you can expect your child to play or act out what bothers him/her in an individual setting. You will also meet with the therapist periodically to discuss progress of therapy, any present concerns, parenting difficulties, and such to assist the healing path of your child.
